We are pleased to announce that Ms. Karen Gitau has been nominated to receive an Award during the 6th Annual Cobb County Community Service Awards hosted by Commissioner Bob Weatherford (Venue and date to be announced later). The annual awards ceremony celebrates individuals and organizations that make a difference to other people’s lives within Cobb County.
Karen Gitau’s nomination was based on the following voluntarily services that she performs on a regular basis:
Global Media Outreach: For the past 6 years, Karen has dedicated an average of an hour a day helping people find their path to Christianity as well as helping people in overcome difficult situations such as abusive relationship, suicidal thoughts; controlled substance abuse, alcoholism and the list goes on.
Mt Paran Church: For the past 3 years, Karen has volunteered as a Sunday school teacher to kindergarten age kids. She has also voluntary worked as a Special Needs teacher to kids with autism and down-syndrome.
As a business owner, Karen has supported the Must Ministries; Goodwill and Salvation Army by supplying the Kennesaw (Cobb County) stores with an average 3% of her business inventory. This enables those who cannot afford to pay full price on certain items, to buy them at these organizations at a drastically reduced price.
Karen is also the author of a book that is centered around helping individuals she encountered while going about her regular day. Most of the stories in her book are about people who reside in Cobb County. The inspiring yet hilarious book is titled: The kid, The Single Mom and the Crazy Community by Karen Gitau and can be found on Amazon.
Congratulations Ms Karen Gitau and good luck at the Awards Night

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Brendah Masinde. She was in the United States Navy where she served for 6 years. Brenda had been battling health problems to which after a courageous fight, she succumbed to on Tuesday 23rd of February 2016.
Brendah was a loving daughter of Janet Masinde and the late Jonathan Masinde Mwildza, sister to Lindah Masinde, Yolanda Knopp, Hannahliz Masinde, Sister-in-law to David Knopp and Auntie to Keana Knopp and Kailani Knopp, not to mention a loyal friend.
Friends and family are raising funds to help with additional funeral costs that the family has been left to take care off. Funds will be used to help Brendah’s family in Kenya come and wish her a last farewell. We will also need the funds to pay for mortuary expenses. As she was in the Navy, the casket and place of burial has been covered, BUT we still need to raise funds to bring her family here for the send off she deserves.
