SHILOH AFRIQUE FOUNDATION
2007 -2017

Shiloh Fundraiser 2017Shiloh Afrique Foundation is a brainchild of Shiloh Afrique Medical Training Center in Marietta Georgia. I, Mrs. Christine Muchene I am the founder. I started training more than 600 Caregivers between 2004 - 2007, only to realize that the students were in need of more than the training I was giving. Majority came from Africa, Caribbean and a few Americans. Most of the students were experiencing cultural shock- from struggle to adapt in an American lifestyle with language barrier where most had retained their heavy accents to trying to understand immigration laws, just to mention but a few challenges that are faced by many expatriates.
Shiloh AmbassadorIn 2007, I founded Shiloh Afrique Foundation under the umbrella of National Heritage of America. We engaged people from all walks of life to help the foundation. We were finally able to partner with MedShare International Atlanta, who have continued to provide glucometers, blood pressure machines and other stuff needed for health screening in Kenya. We also partnered with Atlanta Furniture Bank, and NW Furniture Bank of Washington State. The two agencies have been providing used Furniture to immigrants especially refugees through Shiloh Afrique Foundation. Later, United Way Atlanta came on board and until recently they would provide almost free scrubs and sneakers to the new Caregivers. MUST ministries donated bread for the students.
I have been teaching CPR/FA under American Red cross and American Heart Association.
Last year while on vacation in Kenya, I volunteered at St. John Ambulance and taught CPR/FA to their volunteers in the field and EMS. Unfortunately, I realized there were many people both young and old incapacitated some due to accidents and others diseases whom could not afford wheelchairs, walkers, clutches and adult diapers among other medical supplies.

As I followed up on my research in search of finding the solution, I found out that a packet of 8 diapers costs Kshs. 1,000 and a packet of pull ups costs Kshs.2,000. However, many of the patients couldn't afford such supplies.
I returned to America with a hurting heart, but extremely challenged to make a difference in Kenya. I partnered with a few friends and we started sourcing for the equipments. This quest landed me in Seattle Washington where I collected the equipments mostly from Kenyans with Adult Family Homes. Within 6 months in Washington, I managed to ship out two loads of medical equipments to Kenyan. The shipment came at a high cost.
I then came back to Atlanta and started collecting more equipments. I approached fellow women at Christ Harvesters church and they agreed to help with buying the equipments. Most of them shopped from thrift stores, due to financial constraints. However, with their support not only in buying the equipments but by them contributing money helped in laying a solid foundation.
The challenge at this time is how to ship all the equipments to Kenya. Hence, we are appealing to men and women of goodwill to come out Sunday May 7th to support this endeavor.
Thanks everybody who has supported Shiloh Afrique Foundation in whichever way since its inception. I am humble to have started this vehicle which serves people here and in Kenya.
God bless.
